Ghosts of Segregation











“Ghosts of Segregation” is an interactive-PDF created for photographer Rich Frishman to use to interest sources in funding the project. It is designed as HD format (1920x1080 pixels) so that it can easily be used as a Keynote presentation and also be sent as an email attachment to an email when Rich makes contact with an interested group.
I love this PDF form, because email continues to be a “low friction” method of sending work: the receiver does do not need to download a big file nor follow a link to a mysterious web page (which may be full of UI surprises). This simple interactive-PDF can contain links to websites and—most importantly—launch an email client for sending a reply to Rich directly.
The example above shows a few of the 20 images included in the final. It was key to keep the entire file below 10 megs in size (it is 7 megs) so that it does not rejected.
