2018

I was able to spend three weeks in May 2018 in Little Compton, Rhode Island. Weather was challenging, but had its own charm, particularly the fog. I did this trip because, as an amateur painter, I rarely could find an extended time to just paint. The longest period is typically a week, and only once a year at the beach. I took advantage of a fortuitous window between design projects.
The work above is in order of execution, and in week two, when I went to Block Island (the brick lighthouse), I started to feel more confident, slowed down and tried tackling compositions that were more complex then the sky/seascapes I've mostly done in the past. I felt like I was indeed "finding" my hand.
Spending this much time, was a great experience, one that I encourage everyone to try.
